The Anderson Trojans put their talent to the test this weekend, going head-to-head with some of the best teams in Texas in a grueling five-game stretch. With electric home runs, dominant pitching, and a walk-off steal, the Trojans proved they’re built for the big stage as they continue their march toward the playoffs.
Friday Night Lights
Friday’s opener against Cedar Park was nothing short of spectacular, with Anderson pulling off a thrilling 9-8 victory. The game wasted no time getting wild, as Connor Comeau crushed the very first pitch over the fence for a leadoff home run, setting the tone for an action-packed battle. The Trojans fought from behind for much of the game, but James Cole Jr.’s clutch home run in the late innings sparked a surge. Then, in the game’s defining moment, Colin delivered the dagger—stealing home in the final inning to secure the win.
The second game of the night was a contrast—a defensive showdown where Ben Waisman was nearly untouchable on the mound. Waisman dominated Cedar Park’s lineup, keeping them off the board for the entire game until the final inning. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t provide the support he needed, and a late push from Cedar Park handed Anderson a tough 0-4 loss to split the night.
Saturday’s Showdown
Saturday’s first challenge was a clash with Boerne Champion, the 15th-ranked team in 5A, and the powerhouse squad showed exactly why they hold that title. Anderson struggled to contain their explosive offense, falling 12-1 in a one-sided contest. But while the Trojans took the loss, they’ll get another shot at Boerne Champion in the playoffs—and next time, they’ll be ready.
Looking for a response, Anderson finished Saturday on a high note with a dominant 7-2 win over Leander High School. The Trojans played clean, aggressive baseball, flashing strong defense and clutch hitting. The game’s biggest moment came off the bat of Ben Waisman, who cleared the bases with a massive triple, sealing the victory and giving the team momentum heading into Sunday.
Sunday
The final challenge of the weekend came against Vista Ridge, a formidable 6A program, and the game turned into an offensive battle. The Trojans fell behind 3-6 early, but a Vista Ridge pitching change opened the door for a comeback. Anderson’s bats came alive, rallying in the late innings behind some monster hits. Connor Comeau blasted a towering 400-foot home run to dead center, while James Cole Jr. ripped a scorching double off the wall, keeping the pressure on Vista Ridge. This gave the Trojan the lead and with the help of Sophomore Connor Donahue the Trojans finished the weekend with a big win.
Overall
The Anderson Trojans battled through a tough five-game weekend, showcasing impressive pitching, clutch hits, and resilience. Despite a couple of tough losses, they ended strong with a commanding victory, proving they’re ready for the challenges ahead.
