Girl’s Lacrosse Looks to Maintain their Dominance this Season

Last year, Anderson Girls Lacrosse was the pinnacle of the sport in Texas. After a dominant regular season campaign, the Trojans cruised to the playoffs and eventually defeated Rockwall in the D2 state championship game. Anderson returns a vast majority of their starters from their state championship team, and despite a move to Division 1, should be among the very best in the state once again this year.

Anderson returns 10 of their 12 starters from last season, including 4 all-state players and 5 NCAA commits. These players helped the Trojans truly dominate their competition as Anderson went 17-0-0 and had a +232 goal differential. They finished just behind D1 champion Hockaday in the final state rankings. Below is a list of the returning starters.

Annie Small – Senior, Midfield, committed to Dartmouth College

Veena Patel – Senior, Attack

Grace Henson – Senior, Defense

Emma Bethke – Senior, Goalie, committed to Southwestern University

Audrey Thompson – Junior, Midfield, committed to The University of Oregon

Chloe Page – Junior, Attack, committed to The University of Cincinnati

Harper Jones – Junior, Attack

Katie Rich – Junior, Defense, committed to Monmouth University

Addie Nelms – Junior, Defense

Laney Owens – Sophomore, Attack

Despite the tougher competition, Anderson certainly has the talent to make a return to state this year. The girl’s lacrosse team will be one of the most interesting teams to follow this Spring as their season begins February 25th. They give Anderson their best chance at a state title in any sport.
