The Anderson Trojans are now 3-0 after beating the College Station Cougars 37-14.
Offense Steals the Show
The offense had a dominant game, with 496 total yards. Although the Trojans were down in the second quarter, the momentum changed after a field goal attempt was blocked and recovered by senior Liam McMillan, who then scored and forced a tie game. Anderson then soared ahead with senior Caleb Crenshaw’s jaw-dropping 98-yd rushing touchdown, making the score 21-14 just before halftime. He then capped it off with a 61-yd touchdown in the last two minutes to seal the game. Kicker Ryan Ostboe also had a great game, kicking a 39-yd field goal to stretch the Trojan’s lead.
Defense Dominates the Night
The Trojan Defense had a strong performance, allowing only two touchdowns in the first half, and none in the second. On the first play of the game, senior Tate Haines caught an impressive interception that tipped off of the opposing teams’ hand, giving the Trojans great momentum for the remainder of the game. The defense stopped the Cougars with plenty of 3-and-out drives, ultimately securing the game, and the 3-0 record.
Looking Forward
The Anderson Trojans have a by-week, giving them extra time to prepare to face the A&M Consolidated Tigers.
