The Anderson Trojans kept their hot start rolling on Friday night, blanking Elgin 42–0 behind a dominant defense and explosive offense. From the opening whistle, the Wildcats looked outmatched against a Trojan squad firing on all cylinders.
Crenshaw, Darby, and Hatcher Power the Offense
For the second straight week, junior running back Caleb Crenshaw stole the show, shredding the Elgin defense with 193 rushing yards on just 16 carries while averaging more than 12 yards per touch. His highlight of the night came on a blistering 68-yard run where he showed off his trademark speed and cutback ability. Quarterback Cove Darby added balance through the air, throwing for 158 yards and two touchdowns on only five passes. Senior Ben Hatcher also made his presence felt, breaking free for a huge run that had the Trojan sideline erupting.
Defense Locks It Down
While the offense piled up points, the Trojan defense slammed the door. Grayson Lake snagged an interception, continuing his hot start to the season, and the front seven bottled up every attempt Elgin made to move the ball. By the fourth quarter, the Wildcats were out of answers and Anderson had secured its first shutout of the year.
Eyes on College Station
The win moves Anderson to 2–0 on the season, outscoring opponents 79–2 in the process. Next up, the Trojans face their toughest test yet against College Station on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. A statement win there could put the rest of Texas on notice.
