Girls’ Soccer: Trojans Fight Hard but Fall just Short Against Lake Travis

After a 0-0 tie earlier in the week, Anderson played a formidable Lake Travis team last Friday. The Cavaliers came into this game 3-0-1 in district while the Trojans were 3-0-2.

Anderson dropped a tough one 2-1, but they certainly didn’t go down without a fight. While senior Ella Buie scored the only Trojan goal of the match on a header from Lucy Blake’s corner kick, Anderson almost netted another pair of goals against the Cavaliers.

Gracie Ruthven had a shot go off the post in the first half of play, and Olivia Isles hit the crossbar late in the game. A very close game that could’ve gone either way, but Anderson just couldn’t pull out a victory.

The Trojans are still 3-1-2 and district, and they sit tied for third in the standings with Johnson. A Tuesday matchup against Del Valle has been postponed, but Anderson will be back in action next Tuesday, as they will face district leading Dripping Springs at home.

Anderson certainly has a chance to make a run at the district title. The Trojans aren’t even halfway through a grueling district slate of games, and there will be plenty of chances to win big games.

Feel free to comment any predictions for the Drip game or the rest of the season below.
