Anderson has played twice since being ranked in the Regional Top 10, and they have found even more success on the field. Against Akins, the Trojans won handily, 8-0. Seven different Anderson players scored goals, and ten players recorded at least a point during the game. Freshman Sydney Ganor led the team with two goals and an assist. JVA won 8-0 in a shortened game, and JVB defeated the Eagles 4-0.
The Trojans then faced Westlake on Tuesday in a game that ended in a 0-0 tie. An extremely defensive matchup in which Anderson was able to keep the Chaps off the scoreboard. This game was huge, as Westlake sits just one spot behind Anderson in the district standings. The Chaps are 2-1-1 in the district, and the Trojans sit at 3-0-2.
With another great week on defense, Anderson has still only given up 1 goal in district play. That’s quite the feat as only Dripping Springs (#18 in the State) has given up less.
If Anderson wants to compete for a district title, they have to win tonight. Lake Travis (3-0-1 in district; #26 in the state) currently holds the second spot in district standings. The Trojans could leapfrog them with a win, but a loss would drop Anderson over a game back of the Cavaliers. Lake Travis has a +24 goal differential in the district and can certainly net goals. Anderson will need to continue to play stout defense and make strategic counterattacks to beat Lake Travis.
This will be the toughest opponent Anderson has faced this season, and the game will be a good test before the Dripping Springs game coming up in 11 days.
Show up and support the Trojans tonight. The game is tonight at 7:45 at home.
