Anderson Men’s soccer had a fantastic second (and so far third) week of district play, securing wins against all of their opponents and outsourcing them 13-3.
Tuesday the 17th, the team walked away from a game against Buda Johnson with a 6-1 win. The game started off pretty even with a lot of back and forth play. A goal from Kyle Bresler gave Anderson the lead. Soon after Bresler’s goal, Johnson scored to tie the game up. A goal from Jud Anderson with an assist from Austin Eckermann put the Trojans up 2-1 going into halftime. Throughout the second half the team maintained possession and scored four more goals. A solid defense secured the 6-1 win for the Trojans.
Later that week, on Friday, Anderson faced off against Akins. The Trojans managed to score two goals in the first half, but conceded the same amount, going into the second half tied 2-2. Austin Eckermann broke the tie in the second half, putting the team up 3-2 and providing motivation to continue to compete. They walked away from the game with a 4-2 win.
January 24th, they played Westlake at home. They won 3-0 with two goals from junior Jud Anderson and one from sophomore Luke Reuter.
This Friday (January 27th) the Anderson Men’s team will take the field to compete against Lake Travis, the defending state champions, at Lake Travis. Here is senior captain Ian Klumpen’s thoughts on the match, “I’m really looking forward to playing this [game] against Lake Travis. I’ve heard they’re a good team and I think it will definitely be a challenge but I’m excited to see us fight and ultimately try to win.”
Stay tuned for the results from this Friday’s game and wish our Trojans some luck in what is arguably going to bethe most challenging game of the season.
