This past weekend, Anderson Competition Cheer competed at the NCA High School Nationals in Dallas. The team placed 4th in the Spirit Program Finals, less than half a point out of third, but what was really special was the sendoff.
Coach Hatcher prepared a sendoff for the cheerleading squad, unlike anything Anderson has seen before. This was a great show of school spirit, and especially special for our cheer team which is often underappreciated. Hatcher has really gone out of his way to improve the culture of Anderson as a whole, and this is just another example of his effect on our athletic department. Over 250 athletes from all sports came out to support the cheerleaders as they prepared to leave for nationals. They had a big banner painted, and made a spirit line running all throughout the school for the girls to run through.

The cheer team and coaches spend hours of their time supporting the other teams at Anderson, and to have all of those teams come out to do the same for them, was special. This is the first time that athletes on every team have come out to support the cheerleaders like this, and it was greatly appreciated by all involved with the team. The culture of Anderson Athletics is changing, and that starts with supporting each and every athlete, no matter the sport.
