After much consideration, I’m excited to announce that Ava Pandya and Colin Haines have been selected as our 2025 scholarship recipients! The pair was chosen by the coaches for their ability to exemplify the best traits of a student-athlete on and off the field of play. They are undoubtedly deserving and I couldn’t have picked a better pair of winners to represent GoTrojansGo or Anderson athletics.
Colin Haines is a 3 year varsity letter winner for Trojan Football and a 2 year varsity player for Trojan Baseball. The only Trojan to start for two playoff teams in the same year in recent memory, Haines cemented himself as a versatile star athlete for Anderson. On the gridiron, he excelled at cornerback, finishing his senior year with 5 interceptions. Colin tied the career interception record (8) for the Trojans during the final game of his career against La Porte. On the diamond, Haines was known as a sure handed defender as well. He was voted on by his teammates as the team defensive player of the year after a fantastic season mostly at second base, and additionally he came alive at the plate late in the district slate and throughout the playoffs. Colin’s also known for being an uber-respectful, hard working player and teammate, and frankly from personal experience I can tell you there is not a better competitor than Colin Haines.
Ava Pandya has been a mainstay on the varsity volleyball team for several years now. A three year letter winner, Pandya was a captain as a senior and a major leader for Coach Byers and the team. Her 332 digs ranked third on the team, and her 45 aces placed her in the top 5 as well. An all district second team award winner as a senior, she was a huge part of the second round playoff team last winter. Off the court, Ava is friendly, welcoming, and warm, and her attitude towards others is something to be admired. She’s also an excellent student, maintaining a high GPA over 4 years and being admitted to the University of Texas for the fall. For these reasons, Ava was an excellent choice for our scholarship.
Furthermore, I’d like to extend a final thanks to all of you, our community. None of this would be possible without your support. There would be no scholarship, no articles, and no GoTrojansGo without the support that y’all have shown me over the past few years. As I move on to college, it is bittersweet to leave GoTrojansGo behind, but I hope with your continued support that it will live on as the years go by. We will be announcing some of our 2025-26 staff soon so stay tuned!
