It’s beginning to sound like a broken record, but for the third consecutive week, senior Faith Murphy has broken a school record as the Trojans competed at the 2025 AISD Invitational at Burger Stadium on the Thursday before spring break.
Murphy, who will run for Arkansas next Fall, added a new race to her repertoire, the 3200-meter run, winning in a time of 11:17.84, breaking the school record by over 35 seconds that Elizabeth Tucker set last year. Later in the day, Murphy lowered her own 1600-meter run record for the third-straight week, just missing out on the 5-minute barrier and winning in 5:01.92.
Murphy now holds the school record in the 400, 800, 1600, 3200, and 5k Cross Country, showcasing her elite range.
Also, for the third consecutive week, senior Zayden Sharp won the Boys’ Long Jump, jumping 22 feet, 10 inches.
Avery Riggsbee outpaced the junior varsity, winning the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:06.18, a new personal best.
The Boys’ Varsity 4×100 Meter Relay had a great race, finishing second in a season-best 42.24. The Boys’4×200 Meter Relay finished sixth but also set a season’s best in 1:31.90.
Both Girls’ 4×400-meter Relay teams captured third at the meet, the varsity in 4:13.06 and the junior varsity in 4:35.35, both season’s bests for the squad.
In fact, each of the girls’ relays, including the 4×100 Meter team (6th in 50.96) and 4×200 Meter Relay (4th in 1:48.12), set season bests.
The teams have the week off for Spring Break and return to action March 28-29 with those who qualified for the Texas Relays, then the District 24-5A Championships on April 1st and 3rd.
