It was a chilly morning and afternoon Thursday at the 2025 Vista Ridge Invitational Track Meet, however several Trojan athletes were still able to come away with some hot times.
In fact, it was a couple of freshmen girls who led the way, as Emily Scholtz and Caroline Talarcek captured wins in the Junior Varsity and Varsity 800-meter races, respectively. Scholtz also backed that result up with a third-place finish in the Junior Varsity 300-meter hurdles.
The JV Girls’ team also had several solid relay results. The team of Ivory Brock, Naliyah Anderson, Ada Briggs Beard, and Clara Gustafson finished third in the 4 x 100-meter relay. Noemi Greiener-Guzman, Briggs Beard, Anderson, and Gustafson then placed third in the 4×200-meter relay. Avery Riggsbee, Ximena Navarro, Valeria Hernandez, and Carla Sanchez-Lopez took fourth in the 4 x 400-meter relay.
Unfortunately, due to the weather, all field events were canceled, and many runners did not end up running to avoid potential early-season injuries.
The Trojans will get back into action next Saturday at the Bastrop Bear Invitational where we will hopefully see much better weather.
