The Trojans just finished up their last practice before the inaugural Taco Shack Shields Collide Game. Coach Swanson and seniors Campell Duncan, Adrian Popps, and Kaden Wiliford revealed their keys to the game and what a win would mean to them.
Coach Swanson highlighted limiting turnovers and getting back in transition as the number one focus for the Trojans. If Anderson does this, he believes they can make it a half-court game, which would tip the game in their favor. Returning varsity players Campbell, Adrian, and Kaden talked about how their leadership could be key to making sure the younger players are locked in. Adrian said, “Us being comfortable on the court sets an example and helps the younger players be comfortable as well.” After struggling in some preseason scrimmages, the Trojans are looking forward to a game that can give the team more confidence. Campbell says, “This game feels like a fresh start, and a win would feel great.” Coach Swanson echoed this sentiment, saying he wants to eliminate the bad taste caused by the last couple of scrimmages. He wants his team to use this game as a springboard for the next three weeks, which are packed with 15 games. If Anderson can come out of the McCallum game with positive momentum, having built on important concepts, then it will be a success. Coach Swanson puts it best, “We want to make sure that we’re building and improving every day in order to succeed later in the season when it counts during district play.”
The Trojans are excited to kick off their 2023-2024 season with a big rivalry game. Make sure to come out and support them tonight in the Delco Activity Center at 8:00 P.M.
