Jack: As I wrote in my game preview earlier, while this is a tough game, it’s an absolute must win for the Trojans. Lake Travis 5-1 with their lone loss coming to Westlake and features a potent rushing attack that will be tough for the defense to stop. Brady Gephart needs to let it fly tonight 30+ times and throw for 300 yards if Anderson’s gonna win. If they can win the turnover battle and figure out how to stop the run, then anything can happen. Coach Hatcher should have the guys fired up, and I think they rise to the occasion. Trojans over Cavs in a shocker. Anderson 35 Lake Travis 34
Sebastian: This is a must game win for Anderson if they want a realistic chance to make the playoffs. Lake Travis is a tough matchup, but as Anderson showed in the first quarter against Westlake, they have the capability to compete with anyone in their district. Lake Travis has a 5-1 record and, according to MaxPreps, is the #18 team in Texas. They have impressive wins against Buda Johnson and the #17 team in Texas, Steele. Their one loss comes against Westlake, 20-14, where Westlake was able to stay ahead the whole game and control Lake Travis. If Anderson wants a chance to win this game going into the fourth quarter, they will need to play a mistake-free game on offense and be opportunistic on defense. Turnovers killed the momentum the Trojans gained against Westlake after Colon Haines’ interception, and this can’t happen again tonight. Anderson 28 Lake Travis 35
Maren: Coming off of a tough game against Westlake, there is no doubt the Trojans will want to focus on their defense and protecting quarterback Gephart. Ultimately, those were the two areas that were challenging when they faced the Chaps. That being said, Lake Travis is yet another football beast that is dominant on the ground with sophomore RB Vann Hopping. It’s important that Anderson puts up a strong defense throughout the whole game and makes swift tackles to limit the number of rushing yards the Cavs are able to rack up. As per usual, the big plays for the Trojans come when Gephart is able to connect with wide receivers Sharp, Small, and Waidelich. These will be essential to moving the ball and getting into the end zone but can only succeed if the offensive line protects Brady. It’ll be an interesting game tonight, that’s for sure.
