We’re excited to announce that Cole Canaday and Ella Buie have won our Go Trojans Go Scholarship for the class of 2023! None of this would be possible without the help of all of you, our readers, community members, and friends.
We raised close to $3,000 between our GoFundMe campaign and the Fajita Pete’s spirit night. I want to extend a personal thank you to anyone who either donated to our campaign or bought food on our spirit night. You guys are helping us to make a difference in our Anderson community.
A panel selected Cole and Ella to receive the scholarship based on their excellence off the field, and how they exemplify the best qualities of a student-athlete in all walks of life. They were well-deserving candidates and we’re very honored to be able to award them the inaugural scholarship.
Cole was a three-year letter winner for Anderson football and spent two years playing baseball as an underclassman. He received countless academic and athletic awards over his time at Anderson and truly showed what it meant to be a Trojan.
Ella was a 4-year player on Anderson’s varsity soccer team, leading them to multiple playoff appearances, as she led the back line of the Trojan defense. She too won awards of all kinds at Anderson and is so deserving of this scholarship.
Congratulations to Cole and Ella, we can’t wait to see where life takes you. Wherever you go though, your Anderson community will always be behind you.
When starting this scholarship, we had a mission, to use our platform to give back to our community. This year was only the start, and big things are coming, stay tuned.
