One of the top football prospects at Anderson in a long time, quarterback Max Gerlich, added a pair of Division 1 offers this week from newly minted Big 12 member Houston and a traditional basketball powerhouse in The University of Connecticut. Gerlich also set his summer schedule loaded with Division 1 camps around the country.
The 6’3 quarterback added offers number six and seven to go along with a list featuring several power 5 schools. He holds other offers from the likes of Texas Tech, SMU and Pitt, to go along with UTSA and Incarnate Word.
Max told me that “seeing his recruiting pick back up again has been great.” With the start of a busy summer slate, the recruiting cycle is beginning to heat up for the class of 2025. Gerlich, one of the premier prospects in the area, is seeing interest from many college programs and detailed some of that for me below.
“I’ve built up a good relationship with the Houston staff and I’m excited to visit next month.” Max said. He has a visit planned for July 28th with the Cougars and will continue to further the ever important relationship between coaches and recruits.
Gerlich is also excited to visit UConn soon. Although he doesn’t have anything on the books yet, he told me he plans to either take an unofficial visit this sumber or an official one next summer.
Max also told me that he’s “maintained all of the relationships with the coaches that have offered [him already]… but it’s been [his] priority to build and grow relationships with coaches who haven’t yet pulled the trigger [on an offer].”
Gerlich has 9+ summer camps and visits on tap this summer to schools all around the country. He’ll be everywhere from Virginia Tech on the East Coast to local programs Texas State and Baylor. Max is competing with not only with the Trojans 7v7 squad, but also with Juice 7v7 which will allow him to get even more looks from college coaches.
Gerlich started his career with Anderson’s local Pop Warner program before continuing on to start at quarterback for the Murchison Matadors during middle school. However, before his freshman season, Max decided to transfer to Del Valle to have a chance to learn from former IMG Academy head coach Bobby Acosta. After two seasons away from the neighborhood though, Max is back and ready to make an impact in the fall for the Trojans. Whether it’s him or senior Brady Gephart starting the Taco Shack Bowl for Anderson, Gerlich will have his chances this fall to cement himself as a bonafide Power 5 recruit.
It remains to be seen where Max will play in college, but there will be plenty of eyes on him this summer and into next fall. As his recruitment heats up, we’ll have plenty of updates so make sure to check here and follow us on Instagram and Twitter.
