The Apex 60 Showcase is an annual showcase held by Apex Lacrosse Events in partnership with Nike Lacrosse. In 2023, it will be held on July 12th and 13th in Bel Air, Maryland. Players must apply and be selected to attend, and some of the best talents in the classes of 2024 through 2027 will showcase themselves.
Sophomore Olivia Andrus was not only selected to attend but was also recently named one of four 2025 players to watch on the Apex Girls’ Lacrosse Events Instagram. Andrus is having a solid sophomore campaign with 7 goals and 14 ground balls in 12 games. She plays a key role for Anderson and starts alongside Annie Small in the midfield. She’s constantly making plays and is a force in both the offensive and defensive halves of the field.
Olivia was one of two freshmen on varsity last year — the other being attacker Laney Owens — and was a member of the team that won the state championship. She may not have been one of the leading scorers for that team, but her contributions went far beyond the stat sheet. In the state championship game, Annie Small was ejected midway through the contest and Olivia came in to take her place.
Andrus was pushed into the spotlight in the biggest moment of the season and she excelled. She held her own against a strong Rockwall squad and ultimately helped the Trojans win their first state championship.
The showcase will feature plenty of college coaches on the field giving instruction as well as scouts looking to find talent for their respective programs. Almost 20 universities have confirmed their attendance including many of the Northeast’s top teams such as UConn and the University of Pennsylvania.
Andrus is one of the top 2025 players in Austin and a strong camp could lead to opportunities to play D1 lacrosse. She would join a long list of current Trojans that are continuing their lax careers through college in the next few years.
