Anderson Track Shows Heart at Areas

On Wednesday, April 19th, the Trojan track team traveled to Georgetown Eastview HS to compete in the 25-26-6A Area Meet. This meet is the second step on the road to state in which teams and athletes from District 25 and District 26 (Anderson’s District) compete for a spot in the Region 4 Meet. Athletes must place top four in their respective events to qualify for regionals.

Unfortunately, no Trojan athletes were able to advance to the regional meet. Gusting wind lasted throughout the meet causing slow races and harsh conditions for field events, proving a formidable obstacle for Anderson athletes.

Boys Results

Jesse Lang- Jesse clocked a time of 51.24 in the 400 meters and finished in 8th place

Leo Spitzer- Leo decided to scratch the 800 meters and focus on the 1600 meters. He ran a 4:33.64 and placed 6th

Austin Miller- Austin ran the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 40.27, finishing in 6th place

Zayden Sharp- Zayden placed 8th in the long jump, where he achieved a jump of 20-00.00, or just over six meters

Jack Middleton- In the discus event, Jack finished in 7th place with a throw of 44-06.00, or just over 13.5 meters

Girls Results

Kate Weegar- Kate finished in 7th place for the triple jump with a leap of 35-01.00, or just over 7.5 meters

Jada Navarro- Jada placed 8th place overall in the discus with a throw of 99-00.00, or just over 30 meters

Although this area meet did not go how Anderson would have liked, it doesn’t take away from the team’s outstanding season. So many great times were run, and multiple records were broken, which should set up Anderson for a great track season next year.
