Anderson Track Finds Success at the District Meet

The Anderson Trojan track team competed at the Burger Athletic Complex in the UIL District 26-6A meet this past Monday through Wednesday. The meet had a lot of competition, with schools like Westlake, Lake Travis, and Bowie attending. The Trojans athletes had multiple goals they wanted to achieve this meet, including advancing to the area meet (top four make area), setting personal records, and helping their team place high on the team rankings.

Trojans who Advanced to the Area Meet

Jesse Lang- Jesse joined the track team midway through the season, but that didn’t stop him, as he ran a blazing 50.56 400 meters and placed in 4th.

Leo Spitzer– Not only did Leo run a 1:55.10 800 meters and place 2nd, but he also broke the Anderson record in the 800 (read more about this record-breaking performance: https://gotrojansgo.com/2023/04/16/anderson-track-leo-spitzer-cant-stop-breaking-records/). Leo also made area in the 1600 meters by running a 4:19.06 and placing 4th.

Austin Miller– Austin placed 4th and ran a great time of 40.73 in the 300-meter hurdles, just edging out the 5th-place runner to earn a spot in the area meet.

Zayden Shap– Zayden placed 4th in the long jump with a crazy leap of 20-09.50, or just over 6.3 meters.

Jack Middleton- Jack placed 2nd in discus with an impressive throw of 155-09.00 or well over 47 meters. He also placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 45-08.00, or just under 14 meters.

Kate Weegar: Kate placed 4th in the triple jump with a great bound of 34-11.00, or well over 10.5 meters.

Jada Navarro- Jada placed 4th in discus with a powerful throw of 101-03.00, or just under 31 meters.

Trojan Relays who Advanced to the Area Meet

Boys 4×100 Meter Relay- Jesse Lang, Ed Small, Cole Cannaday, and Zayden Sharp (first leg to last leg) ran an impressive 42.21 in the 4×100 to place 4th and advance to the area meet.

Anderson had a great showing at the district meet, and as a result, over ten athletes will be competing in the area meet at the East View High School-Patriot Stadium this Wednesday in Georgetown. In order to advance from area to regionals, athletes will have to place top four again against even stiffer competition, so wish them luck as they prepare for the meet tomorrow.
