Anderson Girls’ Golf Begins Regional Tournament

Anderson’s 2022 5A state champion girls’ golf team begins the first day of the two-day regional tournament down in San Antonio. Both Caroline Dasch and Darrelyn Webster qualified after strong scores at districts. Xavier Golf commit Darrelyn claimed second medalist, and Caroline finished 3rd overall and first medalist.

Both Girls were members of the top Anderson fivesome last spring that shot a combined to beat Alamo Heights by just a single shot to win the state tournament last year. Individually Caroline finished T14 with a +9 153 and Darrelyn finished T5 after shooting +5 over two days for a 149 total.

The duo is among the 3 returning players from that team, the other being senior Karime Nichols, while Sloane Panter moved on to play at Southwestern University, and Farra O’Keefe graduated early to begin with Texas golf this fall. The same group of five competed in 2021 finishing 5th in the state.

It remains to be known whether the Trojans can go back-to-back now that they’re in 6A, but Caroline and Darrelyn should be in contention to place highly and possibly even win over the next two days. The regional tournament is being played at The Golf Club of Texas where it’s likely the girls are playing the silver tees. If true, that would make the par-72 course just under 5600 yards with a 67.0 course rating.

This is a big chance for the duo to prove themselves as the leaders of a strong Anderson team ahead of state. They will need to be on top of their game to win this week and in the upcoming state tournament. Both girls are seniors and are looking to finish out strong high school golf careers as Trojans.
