Anderson Girls’ Lacrosse: 10th in the South

Lacrosse is big on the East Coast, with most of the powerhouses being in or around the tri-state area. In Texas though, there’s no denying that football is king. Despite being deep in the south, at Anderson, there’s a place for Girls’ Lax too.

USA Lacrosse Magazine updated their High School Lacrosse Rankings earlier today, and for the first time ever, the Trojans made the list. Anderson came in at 10th in the South Girls’ rankings, and the only Texas team ranked higher than them was #4 Hockaday. This is a huge deal and a big honor for the Trojans.

Anderson was extremely well deserving of this ranking. After all, they haven’t lost a game since 2021 and are on a 25-game win streak. It truly is amazing what Anderson Girls’ Lacrosse has done in just a few short years since the launch of the program in late 2019. They’re outscoring opponents by almost 13 goals a game and truly dominate just about every time they take the field. The Trojan squad is littered with almost half a dozen commits and plenty of other young talent.

While having high-end Division 1 talent like Annie Small (Dartmouth) and Chloe Page (Cincinnati) and top coaching is certainly important, the impact that our Anderson community has had on the team shouldn’t be overlooked. Many parents and other community members donate their time and money to support this team, and the Trojans are showing that they take advantage of every opportunity they get.

The stands are packed every game, with families, friends, and neighbors cheering on the Trojans. While Lacrosse may not be Texas’s sport, it’d be hard to deny that it’s not Anderson’s sport. Anderson isn’t the athletic powerhouse that Westlake is, but this team is different. They’re finally getting the national recognition they deserve, and believe me, this is only the start.
