Anderson Soccer: Midseason Update

Men’s soccer has just completed a grueling stretch of their season with games against the likes of Lake Travis, Bowie, and other schools. They are 1-4-2 in their last 7, and that has dropped them to fifth in the district. However, they’re just half a game behind Del Valle for a playoff spot.

Junior Jud Anderson leads the team with 13 goals and 33 points in 15 games played, and he is certainly the star of the team thus far. Freshman Trevor Renner has added 7 more goals of his own, and both Kyle Bresler and Luke Reuter have 2 each. Senior Christopher Stuart heads the defensive group as the goalkeeper.

After dropping 3 in a row to Dripping Springs, Austin High, and Bowie, the Trojans got back into the win column against Johnson. A pair of goals each from Jud and Renner, and one from Bresler led Anderson to a 5-3 victory over the Jaguars.

Then last Tuesday, Anderson played Akins at home for our senior night. Anderson honored seven seniors against the Eagles:

Ian Klumpen, Defender

Ben Lewis, Midfielder

Owen Beasley, Attacker

Charlie Cisneros, Attacker

Miles Metzger, Defender

Chris Stewart, Goalkeeper

Graham Beevers, Goalkeeper

The game ended in a 2-2 tie, with Anderson goals from Jud and Renner. Klumpen nabbed an assist, while goalie Chris Stewart had 5 saves.
