Anderson Wrestling: Wei Chern Is State Bound

With the UIL Wrestling State Tournament starting today, Anderson is proud to have Wei Chern competing in Cypress, Texas, for a 6A state title. He is the only Anderson wrestler to make it to state, and this achievement means a lot to him as it has been his dream since he started wrestling in his sophomore year at Anderson. To make state Wei placed top four in both district and regionals; he says he was able to achieve this by being committed to school and club wrestling while also getting stronger through intense weight training. A big influencer and supporter of Wei and his wrestling career is his older brother, who brought him into wrestling and helped push him to achieve the success he is having right now. His Anderson wrestling Coach Timmons also has a significant important influence on him, as Wei says he helps get the best out of him every practice and meet.

Wei has his first match today against Julius Alfaro, representing James Martin High School, so make sure to wish him luck as he tries to earn a spot to compete in the state championship on Saturday.
