Anderson Football: James Hall Commits to Aurora University

Senior defensive tackle James Hall is continuing on to play college ball next year. He’ll be joining the Aurora University Spartans in the fall. In just one year of playing varsity football, Hall racked up multiple offers to play at the next level.

Hall plays defensive tackle for the Trojans and racked up 41 tackles and 1 TFL. Despite being a first-year varsity player, he was a vocal leader on and off the field for Anderson. Coach Hatcher said that James was “Great at getting off blocks,” and that “he did a lot of the dirty work that other guys don’t like doing.”

Hall told me he chose Aurora for “the people there.” He said that “the team was reaching out and being really friendly, and the coach that found [him] was being really friendly as well.” Aurora has the “good atmosphere” that James was looking for. The university is located just west of Chicago in the heart of the midwest.

The opportunity to play college ball means a lot to Hall. He said that “it means that [he] was given another chance to do what I love cause not everyone has the chance to go to college” or play football at that level. Hall’s joining a pretty good team as well. The Aurora Spartans finished 9-1 this season before winning two more games in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

Hall credits his friends with helping to get him to this point in his football career. He said that “during freshman year [he] really didn’t want to play,” but they pushed him to stick with it and helped to get to where he is today.

Hall was an All-District honorable mention player this fall as well as being named the Trojans Defensive Lineman of the Year. Having that much success in just one year on varsity is truly remarkable, and it definitely shows why Hall has earned a spot to play on Saturdays.
