McNeil Invitational Review

Despite several runners missing, the Anderson Trojan Cross Country team competed well this past Saturday (September 21) at the McNeil Invitation held on the grounds of Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

The Girls Varsity led the way in the Silver Elite Division, placing 12th out of 30 teams. Elizabeth Tucker led the Trojans with a 31st place finish in 20:59. Also scoring for the Trojans were Caroline Talarcek, Emily Scholtz, Lucy Gibson and Ariana Cruz. Scholtz’ 21:59 was a personal best for her, coming on a very difficult course. Cruz and Gipson also had season bests.

The Junior Varsity Girls captured a 9th place team finish. Those scoring for the team were: Camille Rackley, Lucy Flynn, Valeria Hernandez, Breylinn Snyder and Alexandra Lee.

On the Boys side, Colby Huntress and Sebastian Cruz competed in the Gold Elite Division, while Andrew Saeger competed in the Silver Elite Division.

The remainder of the boys squad led the Trojans to a 11th place finish at McNeil. Placing for the team were Manny Garduno, Owen Phillips, Tobin Stemple, Sander Orman and Nathan Hadavi. Luke Mathis and Eli Peng were right there in the action as well.

Next up for the Trojan runners will be the Leo Manzano Invitational next weekend (September 28) in Marble Falls.
