Signing Day: 14 Anderson Athletes To Finalize Their Commitments

Fourteen athletes across six sports will participate in Anderson’s signing day today at lunch. The ceremony will take place at 12:45 PM in the Large Gym. All are encouraged to show up and support the athletes as they take another step toward representing Anderson at the college level.

Six football players will sign today including two at the Division 1 level. IV Webb will make his commitment to SMU official and Jake Williford will sign on to play at Incarnate Word. Jacob Johnson will be playing next season at Sul Ross State and Cole Canaday at Trinity University. James Hall has been committed to Aurora for quite some time and will sign with them today. In a last-minute signing day flip, Ryland Ton will be signing with Aurora as well, despite having been committed to Lyons College since early February.

Baseball has 3 players that intend to sign with their colleges of choice today as well. Karsten Fidler recently made his verbal commitment to D1 Stephen F. Austin, Shepard Tyler is looking to play at Trinity University next year, and Ryland Unnasch will sign to play at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. All three of these guys will be playing in Texas, so make sure to catch a game or two next spring.

Emma Bethke is the loan girls’ lacrosse player signing as Annie Small signed with Dartmouth in the fall. Bethke is a huge part of the team and has started every game at goalie over the past four years. She owns a .366 save percentage this season while facing some of the best competition in Texas, and she’s signing to play lacrosse at Southwestern next year.

Sasha Krigel is also making her college commitment official, although it’s not in a sport that Anderson themselves sponsors. The TRC varsity rower is headed to MIT next year to row at one of the best schools in the country. It’s a great example of how sports can open doors that will help you long after you’re done playing them.

Graham Beevers plays soccer and tennis for the Trojans and will continue to play tennis at the next level when he joins Linfield College. He’ll follow in his dad’s footsteps as he played collegiate tennis himself at UTSA. He plays both singles and doubles and will continue to compete in both disciplines over the next few years.

Two of Anderson’s swimmers will be signing today as well. Charlie Hussain recently committed to UC Santa Cruz where he will swim for the Banana Slugs starting next fall. While originally committed to UC San Diego, Elizabeth Ann Stromberger has recently switched her college choice and will be swimming in the Ivy League next fall. She’ll join lacrosse player Annie Small in Hanover, New Hampshire as both are attending Dartmouth College.

Show out and support these amazing athletes and Anderson Athletics as a whole today. It’s important to honor all of the hard work these athletes have put into their respective sports and that’s exactly what this signing day ceremony is for.
